ACT Math Tutoring
Who this is for
High school students preparing for the ACT who know much of the underlying math but lose points because they cannot move efficiently through a broad 45-question section, or who have uneven preparation across algebra, functions, geometry, statistics/probability, and less-familiar topics.
Unlike the SAT, the ACT tests a wider variety of concepts—including matrices, logarithms, and advanced trigonometry—and requires making efficient triage decisions to maximize your score.

What usually goes wrong
- The clock. With 45 questions in 50 minutes, there is more time per question than on the old ACT—but still not enough to spend several minutes fighting one problem while easier points remain elsewhere.
- Getting stuck on the wrong problem. Burning four minutes on a single conic-sections question, sacrificing three easier points later in the section.
- Forgetting obscure geometry. The ACT heavily tests geometry and trigonometry rules that most students haven't used since sophomore year.
- Inefficient calculator use. Doing by hand what the calculator could do in seconds, or relying on the calculator for algebra that should be mental math.
The approach
Pacing Strategy. We train segmented checkpoints based on the current 50-minute section, customizing the pacing to ensure you bank all the easy and medium points before tackling the hardest material at the end.
Topic Spread and Triage. We identify exactly which obscure topics (like matrices or vectors) are worth your time to learn, and which lower-frequency topics are worth prioritizing based on your score target and available preparation time.
Speed without Carelessness. We practice recognizing question patterns instantly so you don't have to reinvent the wheel on standard algebra setups.
When to Skip and Return. Building the discipline to immediately bypass a time-sink problem and circle back only if time permits.

Common questions
How do I prepare for the hardest ACT Math questions?
Advanced or multi-step questions expose gaps in less-familiar content and decision-making. We tackle them by isolating the specific advanced topics you are missing and practicing them untimed before adding pacing pressure.
Should I guess if I run out of time?
Yes. There is no guessing penalty on the ACT. If the proctor calls the one-minute warning, you should fill in every remaining bubble with your predetermined "Letter of the Day."
